When I was young, I used to think that in order to pursue real values, like patience and mindfulness, I would need to live in a monastery.  I thought seriously about going to a Buddhist monastery high up on a hill and practicing the art of simple living with one of those wise old gurus.  (DM me if you’d like the list of places I considered).

Somewhere along the way, I discovered that the best place to pursue mastery of my values was right here where I was – growing companies, hiring and coaching people, and going after goals as a leader and member of teams.  The fantasy of running away to pursue mastery was just that – a fantasy and a cop out.

This realization opened up the door to great opportunity for me and there’s a point in the journey I take with my EOS clients where they have the same realization – that what’s really going on beneath the surface is about pursuing the mastery of practical, timeless values that extend beyond their professional worlds and transforms their lives.

EOS Empowers You and Your Business

It’s a powerful and exciting realization that we can start and grow companies, compete for market dominance, innovate, problem solve, and take on commercial pursuits, while staying on a path that pursues our most cherished values.

Realizing and tapping into this is not a luxury.  It’s an essential part of the journey of growing a business and getting what you want from it.  And figuring out what you want from your business is entirely about discovering what values you cherish (and which ones you don’t) and why.  And isn’t this the dream of becoming an entrepreneur in the first place – to live the life you want – designed uniquely for you.

There are many different ways to run a business.  The one I’ve chosen is EOS, the Entrepreneurial Operating System®, and I chose it because it’s about simple, practical tools and timeless concepts that helped me discover and articulate my values.

And that’s allowed me to surround myself with other people like me which means I’m happier.  Most of all it allows me to stay right here in LA with my family and friends, instead of having to go live the monastic life somewhere far away.
